The fencing team was founded on 11\03\1975.
The first team founded in the club included:
Mr. Ali Khawaja, the current Kuwaiti federation treasurer for fencing Mr.
Jamal Amin, the current Kuwaiti federation secretary general for fencing Mr.
Oussama Nasser al Kharafi, the businessman Mr. Montasser al Gharbili, the
businessman Mr. Taher al Shemali, Director general of the Kuwaiti
municipality, manager of the team Mr. Naji Abed al Aziz and the current
trainer.
This team won several individual championships where these championships
were not, during this period, a part of the Kuwaiti federation’s activity.
Some of these championships where Mr. Ali al Khawaja won the first place in
the General Kuwaiti championship and Mr. Jamal Amin won the General Kuwaiti
Championship Epee/ Floreh.
Afterwards a new champion appeared Mr. Kazem Mal Allah. Then Moubarak al
Moutairy and Dr. Moubarak Abed al Rida joined this team.
Moreover the team started winning some individual and team championships. It
is to be noted that the Kuwaiti team was formed from the Qadsia club
players: Ali al Khawaja, Jamal Amin, Oussama al Kharafi, Kazem Mal Allah and
Moubarak al Moutairy.
Afterwards the player Abdallah who is currently the head of the quality
department in the Kuwaiti department, also during this period the champion
of champions the player Salman Haji who is currently in the United states
studying for his Ph.D, in addition to the player Ali Mal Allah brother of
Kazem Mal Allah joined this team.
Between 1976-1979 the first ladies fencing team was established. This team
won the first and the third place (individual) in addition to the to the
first place championship cup.
The team continued developing itself and exercising the fencing game
nationally and internationally wise.
In addition to that many players appeared such as: Youness al Shahoum, Ali
Shahada, Muhammad Mashmouch and after them Jassem Bandar, Ahmad al Khawaja,
Ziad al Moutairy, Adel Bandar, Haytham and Bassem al Khawaja, Issa Shahada,
Hassan Mal Allah and others. In addition to Johar Salem who works in the
ministry of interior and the current Floreh team Captain. The name of the
fencer became highly linked to the Qadsia club.
- The Floreh team won the General Championship Tournament, (7) times the
second place, (1) time the third place, (3) consecutive times the
first place.
- The Epee team won the General Championship Tournament, (9) times the first
place, (1) the second place.
- The Youth Floreh team won the General Championship Tournament, (6) times
the first place, (3) times the second place.
- The Youth Epee team won the General Championship Tournament, (6) times the
first place.
- The Beginners team won the General Championship Tournament, (2) times the
first place, (3) times the second place.
- The Sabre team won the General Championship Tournament, (1) time the first
place, (5) times the second place.
- The team won several championships in the name of the players ( Kazem Mal
Allah, Ali Mal Allah, Hassan Mal Allah, Salman Haji, Johar Salem and Ali
Shahada).
- The team won the first place at Cairo were the Arab clubs’ championship
tournament was held. It is to be noted that this team is the first Kuwaiti
team to be recognized in such an event.
- The team also won the first place at Kuwait were the Arab clubs’
championship tournament was held in February 2000, for the Epee fencing and
that is by receiving the championship cup.
- The team won the second place at Kuwait were the Arab clubs’ championship
tournament was held in February 2000, for the Saber fencing by receiving the
silver medal.
- The team won the “Excellence” cup for 12 years.
- The team won the “Supreme Shield” for 12 years.
The teams were trained by:
1- Naji Abed el Aziz- the current trainer.
2- Filop Mihai-the prior trainer.
3- Frank Njit-the prior trainer.
4- Tomash Nmet- the prior trainer.
5- Abed el Hadi Albahrani- the current trainer.
6- Zorab Abou Siawreh- the current trainer.
This is a resume of the fencing team since its foundation until now. Its
latest achievements is the categorization of the Qadsia club youth players
compared to the world’s standards and that is during the world championship
which was held lately in Cairo during the period starting from 23 till 26 of
February 2001. Thirty-five youth players of the first category representing
17 countries participated in this event.
